Mission Statement
The Oregon Foundation for Vision Awareness (OFVA) is a non-profit, charitable
organization whose mission and goal is to provide education, scientific, and charitable
services related to eye care to various segments of the general population, particularly
children and underprivileged individuals. The Foundation serves as a clearinghouse
for future financial assistance programs, charitable contributions, and grant
programs for low income and indigent care. The Critical Need Visual
impairment is one of the ten most frequent causes of disability in America. In
children, visual impairment is associated with developmental delays and the need
for special education, vocational, and social services. The OFVA has been established
to serve as a clearinghouse to help children receive needed eye exams and glasses
through public insurance plans or charitable programs. The OFVA started in 2003
for the purpose of bringing together existing programs and other resources to
address this critical need in Oregon. The Foundation The OFVA
is managed and directed by the Board, which is composed of a variety of individuals
dedicated to the goals of the Foundation. The full Board meets quarterly, with
the executive Board members meeting more frequently. The current Board:

A
Clearinghouse and Resource The OFVA fills a critical role in connecting
Oregon's children with essential eye care. The Foundation is particularly effective
and efficient because it is able to connect most applicants to other existing
charitable programs provided by local and national organizations and insurance
companies. Click
