What is the OFVA?
The OFVA is a charity that provides education, scientific, and charitable
services related to eye care to children and underprivileged individuals through
public insurance plans and other charitable programs. The OFVA started in 2003
for the purpose of bringing together existing programs and other resources to
address the critical need in Oregon. What We DoThe OFVA helps
provide professional eye examinations to applicants that may not have the financial
resources or medical insurance to pay for the eye care they need. OFVA has already
helped over 100 children from all over Oregon receive professional eye care and
/ or glasses. Who We HelpThe OFVA helps children, up to age 18,
living in Oregon with a legitimate need regardless of financial, insurance, or
other status. How to ApplyIt is easy to apply for OFVA assistance
by completing the fully secure, online application. Click

Many people are unsure of the difference between an eye exam and a vision
screening. In general, the eye exam will catch more potential problems than a
vision screening. Although both are important, many important eye and vision problems
may not be detected in a vision screening. The following chart highlights some
of the key differences. How it Works The first step is to apply
for assistance using the fully
secure, online application. Once OFVA receives the application, it will be
evaluated to determine what level of assistance is needed. If needed, the applicant
will be directed to an appropriate charitable program, such as the Lions Club.
If the applicant does not qualify for any of the programs that are available,
the OFVA may provide financial assistance and appropriate referrals. Charitable
Vision Programs The Foundation's primary role is as a clearinghouse for
other charitable eye care programs, both local and national. Here is a list of
the some of the programs that provide assistance to OFVA applicants: |
